Barbara Brand, Master Instructor of Sacramento Taekwondo Club, has trained diligently to become a skilled practitioner and teacher. She began martial arts study in Kenpo in 1974, Taekwondo in 1979, Judo in 1980, and Escrima in 1999. In 2015, she received the rank of 7th degree Taekwondo Black Belt after promoting through the years from 1st-6th degree under her teacher Professor Zambetti at CSU Hayward and Dr. Ken Min at UC Berkeley.
Master Brand has 34 years of national and international level competition experience. She was a 2007-2011 USA National Taekwondo Poomsae Team member and 2007, 2008, 2010, World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships medalist. In 2012, she became a US National Poomsae Team coach and continues in that role. She enjoys preparing athletes for international competition and has coached many of the US athletes who have stood atop the medal stand at the World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships.
Master Brand is a certified International Poomsae Referee, a USAT Level 1 coach, head coach of the STC Competition Team, and author of The Taekwondo Companion.
Master Brand has a first degree Black Belt in Judo, which she tested for in Tokyo, Japan, at the Kodokan, the preeminent Judo institution in the world.
Master Brand has a MA in Education: Curriculum and Instruction, a California Teaching Credential: Grade 7-12 English, and a BA in English.
